OMG, put in a Wifi at the high speed end of things & this is a GREAT idea!

Even better why not have it WifI and built into a solar panel so it
can be left outside and self run powerlessly!  Then you can use it as 
a wifi hub, server, whatever. How about "cell" computing?  Relays across 
neighbourhoods?  VoIP network communications ..

If they put that Wifi on it, it becomes very powerful, even if not, a 
little wifi repeater/AP is only £30 or less and hence easy to connect.
