Hi Linkers,
Consumers International's Access to Knowledge project has commissioned
CHOICE and UNSW Cyberspace Law and Policy Centre to investigate the
impact of certain Australian Copyright Act changes in 2007 (passed in
Dec 2006). These at last legalised format-shifting (eg, copy music from
your own CD to your iPod) and time-shifting (record TV show on your PVR
to watch once later), among other things. CI seeks lessons which might
be useful for consumers in this or other countries.
The research has three parts: online opinion survey for individual
consumers, statistical and legal research, and short interviews or
workshops with consumer advocates and industry experts. The last is the
subject of this message: we are looking for consumer advocate
participants to talk to.
Please contact me if you are a consumer advocate/representative who may
be interested in taking part in the interviews or workshop, which would
be relatively short and painless (30-60 minutes and 2 hours
respectively), and occur over the next month or so. Feel free to forward
this to those you think might be interested. We have more information
available.
Thanks in advance,
David
