After the success of my Green ICT Strategies course, the Australian
National University has asked me to run "Electronic Data
Management" (COMP7420) in 2010: <http://cs.anu.edu.au/Student/comp7420/>.

Suggestions as to what to put in the course and especially materials for
the students to work from would be welcome. This is an expanded and
accredited version a short intensive course I ran in 2007 at the request
of the National Archives of Australia
<http://tomw.net.au/moodle/course/view.php?id=8>.

I started preparing the new course in mid 2008 but it was not clear if
there was a demand for such a course so it was put on hold. In the
interim much has happened with e-document management and I know more
about e-learning.

The course is intended for staff of large organisations, particuarly
Australian Government agencies, to help them cope with the transition
from paper to electronic documents. One realisation is that this has
more to do with staff behaviour, than records management technology.

For more details see "How to Create On-line University Courses in
Electronic Archiving" Parts 1 to 16:

The new course will likely use some of the material from "Metadata and
Electronic Document Management for Electronic Commerce":
<http://www.tomw.net.au/technology/it/ecommerce/>. Also I would like to
put in something new on the use of social networking for organisations,
and how to cope with smart phones and email.

ps: My Green ICT Strategies course will be offered again by ANU in 2010,
slightly renamed to "Green Information Technology Strategies"
(COMP7310): <http://cs.anu.edu.au/Student/comp7310/>. This runs from 22
February to 4 June to fit in with the ANU domestic calendar, even
though it is an online course which can be taken by students anywhere in
the world (one of the tricks you learn when running such courses).
