The digital deadlock: How clearance and copyright issues are keeping
Australian content offline

The growth of online media has brought with it new opportunities for
Australian producers, and not only in the new media area. Existing
films and TV shows can now find a new lease on life as viewers
discover them anew in the digital space. Audiences and producers alike
stand to benefit.

But these opportunities are currently going to waste, as a cluster of
intractable rights issues blocks the repurposing of screen content.
The price of inaction is high, for producers and creators as well as
audiences.

In her new white paper, Jennifer Wilson details the core issues that
stand in the way of producers taking full advantage of new
technologies and distribution channels, and goes on to detail three
controversial solutions designed to break this digital deadlock.
