"Estimate: 800,000 U.S. Households Abandoned Their TVs For The Web"
http://techcrunch.com/2010/04/13/800000-households-abandoned-tvs-web/
"... last year an estimated 800,000 U.S. households cut the cable cord
altogether, according to a new report by the Convergence Consulting Group.
By the end of next year, that number is forecast to double to 1.6 million."
Of course, there is a real difference between the US and Australia (and most
of the rest of the world) in terms of the proliferation of cable/etc TV and
the lack of (easy) availability of Free-To-Air TV which gives a much higher
incentive to "cut the cord" due to the monthly recurring costs.
