wouldn't it be better to have a barcode tattooed into the passengers's
forehead so it could be laser-scanned on entry/exit? and make it a crime
to alter or obscure the barcode in any way (e.g. with a hat or long
hair or "possession of a fringe on public transport")

that would be more convenient for the operators. passengers would love
the convenience of being unable to lose their ticket, and would quickly
get used to having to wear dark goggles to protect their eyes.

but if someone stole your dog, they could ride for free. they can't do
that with your barcode (and even if they scalped you for it, it would
start to smell and become useless after a few days - that's built in
security!)
