My dentists, doctor, car repairer, the NRMA, Qantas, Telstra and local public library all use SMS for appointments, reminders or warnings: not exactly integrated into my calendar, but a step in the right direction. Some also integrate SMS with e-mail alerts. It would be interesting to know of the range of businesses that use such technologies.
