Thanks but I'm almost certain that won't work. Having become curious and
looking around, it seems almost certain that Windows (XP and various other
more recent versions) uses the "Read Only" attribute in dir/file properties
box to determine whether or not the folder is customized for the purposes
of merely *displaying* the listing in Windows Explorer (file directory
program).

Apparently, because of that, umm (un)user friendly behaviour, even using
the 'attrib' command via (DOS) command line won't work either.

It appears that it's theoretically possible to change this default
behaviour (according to Microsoft web site and various tech sites) but
doing so requires editing the Windows registry (NB: a dangerous proposition
for most typical Windows users).

Having found yet a another Windows annoyance (I occassionally wish for
DOS), I'll investigate this further when it's not so late night and decide
whether or not to see whether editing the Windows registry fixes the
problem/annoyance (which I've done on various occasions before, but never
do without more info than I've currently found, nor without backing up
registry and so on and so forth).

Also, I've discovered on Windows, there's another directory possibly even
more worrisome than /sys/ directory that contains Flash cookies from some
sites. It's:
\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash
Player\#SharedObjects

That directory contains random name sub-directories, which contain
site-name sub-directories, which contain files with names such as
"ABC_iView_2.sol". That file appears to keep a record of every iView video
the computer user/s have viewed.
