When I buy a TV, Samsung doesn't tell me what programs I may watch.
When I buy a car, Toyota doesn't tell me what roads I may drive on.
When I buy a computer/phone, Apple doesn't tell me what software I may
run on it.

If I paddock bash the car, Toyota will say its excessive and refuse the
warranty.
If I use my tv to (umm... reaching here!) sweep the floor, Samsung will
tell me I have no warranty.
If I jailbreak my iphone, apple will tell me I have voided the warranty.

But illegal? I bought it, I'll do what I damn well please with it!

~ actually, I haven't jailbroken mine, despite its annoying habit of
making datacalls over the phone network without asking me first,
precisely because I want to keep the warranty.
