Here's something interesting. (I've been ignoring 
this thread but decided to give it a try)
I use Eudora, last version, and I get a warning 
that the url is syntactically invalid. That 
doesn't surprise me. I can see the tilde over the 
n, and it even carries over when I copy as above.

As others have said, Firefox changes it to: http://www.xn--maana-pta.com/

Copying it from Eudora to Firefox worked fine, 
too, with the same 'translation'. Not sure why 
it's not working for you, Marghanita.

I'm using FF3.5.6.
