[LINK] Referendum on Filter

Dear Linkers,

It seems to me that the government's quest for a mandatory censorship regime
is an issue that requires greater education and consideration by the
electorate.

We already have evidence that the government is prepared to change their
stated position, just before and just after an election. I find it abhorrent
that senator Conroy now claims a mandate for a markedly different proposal,
and uses his media opportunities to continue this lie.

To those that know more about such things, is this a case for a referendum
at the upcoming election? Is the loss of our internet freedoms more
important than, say, daylight savings? How are referenda initiated?

George
