Neither. I ventured a clearly identifiable opinion. Apologies if that is

Agreed. The essential factor, however, is "collection", a word which was
absent from your statement that "overhearing something - or even
deliberately eavesdropping in public - is NOT illegal."

For someone who complains so often about straw men, you certainly do
enjoy setting 'em up to knock 'em down!

If I drive a car into a person, I am held responsible unless the car
malfunctioned. Are you suggesting that the collection and storage of
wifi data by Google was down to a software bug?

Doesn't answer the question, Craig. Please do enlighten me - how does
wifi store and collect data? Specifically, what data does it collect,
and where does it store it?
