FYI, I now have ADSL from iinet. I've already got ADSL gear from when I
was in Sydney so I went for a monthly plan.
I've signed up to 40GB + 40GB, up to 8000k/384k at $79.95 per month. I
doubt I'll use the quota, but I thought I'd go for the speed.
Although it says up to 8MByte/Sec, using www.speedtest.net I usually get
about 1Mbit/sec and occasionally up to 2.2Mbit/sec. Downloading podcasts
from the ABC I get about 20KByte/sec (about 160Kbit/sec). All a bit
pathetic really and streaming video is out of the question.
It's not as fast at the Optus wireless broadband, but (so far) the
connection has not dropped out for minutes at a time during peak times
so there may be some benefit.
As has been said before - Gunghalin is slow and expensive.
