This is a rather late response, but for what it's worth Telstra state:

How much does it cost?

If the caller leaves a message, there is no charge to you to receive the SMS however the caller will be charged standard call rates as soon as the call is connected to the Message2txt™ service.

If you reply to the SMS or call back, standard SMS or call rates will apply in these instances.
