Google runs a global tracking system that tracks what websites you go  
to.  It's evidently an opt-out system, except you can't opt out, well  
not directly and not easily.  Google says it's too complicated.

If you want to opt out of it then Google has a firefox extension for  
you. This add-on means your browser still downloads the script from  
google-analytics.com it just doesn't umm send anything back.  Really  
it doesn't.

I use noscript myself.  I think, although I haven't tested it, that  
with noscript your browser doesn't download the script.

OK so you can opt-out if you are techie enough.  Will most people be  
opting out?  Not too soon.
