Gee, up till a decade ago or so you could opt out of being connected
to the telephone network but, if you wanted a telephone you got
Telstra or Telecom or the PMG to connect you. No other company or
organisation was allowed to use public and private space to connect
you to a phone network.

You want lots of companies to be allowed to enforce easements though
public and private space to connect you to phone and internet? That
would be a corporate fascist state. It would also be silly. We only
need one group, and it should be accountable to us not a private
company accountable to a faceless bunch of shareholders.

(And don't think wireless is not using public land, public resources,
public spectrum.)
