To check out the number of .AU domains, see 
http://www.ausregistry.com.au/reports/reports.php

However this list excludes gov.au and edu.au, but there are probably 10,000 to 
15,000 domains in these two sub-domains.

So when it's all added up, the 2 million mark will be passed easily by the end 
of the year going on current trends.
