Sorry stephen, this one slipped through the cracks.
However I think I have subsequentely answered it.
Except for the last comment Flight or fight.
As far as fight or flight is concerned, I would remind you of the boy
that cried wolf.
Eventually, the hunters ignored him and he got eaten by the wolf.
Therefore if humanity is scared into submission every minute of every
day about everything, then the peons will be too scared to leave their
homes, become dependent on alcohol, xanax and drugs and of course
industry will stop.
We will become a consumerist classless society, morbidly overweight
dependent on countries without sensationalist news broadcasts to make
our whitegoods and electronics and of course we will need to apply for
ever increasing credit to service our increasing need to view more
exciting news broadcasts peppered with flashy 90 dB advertisements with
the eBay/Sony slogan, Buy it NOW!!!!/Before 20 Dec 2012.
Gee, the above sounds awfully familiar to me - et tu ?

And ..
"The committee has focused on evaluating radiation effects in the low-
dose range, with emphasis on the lowest doses when relevant data are
available. At low doses, damage is caused by the passage of single
particles that can produce multiple, locally damaged sites leading to
DNA
double-strand breaks (DSBs). These indicators of DSBs show linearity
down
to doses of 5 to 10 mGy. In vitro data on the introduction of gene
mutations by low-LET ionizing radiation are consistent with knowledge of
DNA damage response mechanisms and a *nonthreshold low-dose* response
for
mutations involved in cancer development."

As ANY radiation can cause cancer, isn't it wise to FUD any radiation?
It's not irrational to fear and doubt something if it's clearly poison.
Tom, what's this thing you may have that FUD is NOT logical, or useful?
Without fight or flight human beings would have become extinct long ago.
Cheers,
Stephen
