Fernando,

NBN Co is using a strict technical sense of multicast - as in, Layer 3 
multicast. Eg (without warranty on my part): 
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_multicast

The protocol is actually content-agnostic, since it stipulates 
addressing, not packet contents!
