On 7 this morning, a guest expert who has spoken with his family this
morning (didn't say how -- possibly the French number?), all
communication was shut down, inside and out. It backfired because
then even more people went out in the streets to communicate and out
of frustration. He also said his brother's home was looted and three
cars burned. It's a mess.

There was an ITN interview last night and I wondered how. Then it
struck me: satellites, which is how we're getting the TV footage. So
sat-phones must still be working, too. I'm surprised Mubarak hasn't
gone all in and stopped the journalists, too.

Our truest response to the irrationality of the world is to paint or
sing or write, for only in such response do we find truth.
