The "rivers of gold" are drying up at venerable Australian company 
Fairfax Media in a scenario that encapsulates the dilemma facing 
traditional newspaper models around the world. For a diversified 
media group, sustained largely by newspaper advertising revenue, and 
classifieds in particular - the stark reality is that huge portions 
of its revenues are now diverted and flowing online as smaller 
digital companies emerge.
