Hopefully the British Library have updated their technology. When I
visited, my getting a reader's card was delayed while the staff replaced
the rubber band holding their digital camera together. ;-)
Also there was an annoying drumming noise walking between the shelves of
books: it appeared that too thin panels had been used in the floor to
cover the cable conduits. The computer catalog did not work and the food
the cafe was awful.
This all made the National Library of Australia look like something from
a later century.
