Thanks Jan. The graph shows it all. With each era in the past,
new media have trounced old media and taken over in the market.
Except digital. The music industry for one is not delivering
on a paid for digital music services.

I note the following proposal from the article:

"'Licence to download'
  One solution the pair offer is to implement a levy that could be included in
  the cost of an internet connection - which they dub a "licence to download".
  The proceeds of this could then be distributed among rightsholders."

Similar was done in Canada years ago. There is a small levy on every
blank audio tape purchased. No grumbling about what the blank media
will be used for. Everyone just pays the ante.

Imagine the income that could go straight to the artists (ha ha) if
we all paid, oh, an extra $5.00/yr on our internet connection to
assuage the problem of the music industry not yet entering the digital
age.
