Here's what the article said to do:

Enabling WebSockets in Firefox 4 Beta 8

1. Type about:config in address bar and continue by clicking "I'll be 
careful, I promise"

2. Set network.websocket.enabled  value to true and set 
network.websocket.override-security-block preferences to true.

3. Restart <http://techdows.com/tag/firefox>Firefox browser.


However, I found my installation was default to TRUE for the first 
variable, so I set to false. The second was already false, so I left it.
If you're using FF4.0 as downloaded, you might want to check that setting.
