The EoP plugpacks use 128-bit AES encryption, enabled and required to be 'paired' out
of the box - and the high frequency signals don't propogate with sufficient strength
upstream past the meter for the neighbours to tap anything. Possibly different in an
apartment complex, but the AES encryption takes care of security.
All the best sucking my encrypted noise off the wire, especially if (tapping from the
outside Grid) its an amalgamation at the analog level of several nearby such networks,
all unsynchronised - separating the multiple waveforms at a dB or two above line noise
at best would be an interesting exercise in itself, let alone being confident you've
recorded each one with a sufficiently low bit-error rate to make cracking the
encryption feasible.
