Sealed gel batteries are still lead-acid. The acid is just suspended in a gel.
Metal recyclers are paying money for scrap batteries due to the
current price of lead.
Here in Melbourne, you can get anything from $4-$10 for a typical
Commodore/Falcon size car battery.
