Sure as h*ck I´d expect it to have an additional layer of security.
For instance I don´t want, in the event someone gets unauthorized
access to my GMail account to _ALSO_ get access to a system that can
siphon funds from my bank account or credit card.
(the fact that Google is among the biggest of all cloud providers,
makes it a more attractive hacker for hackers... if in doubt, just ask
Sony and its PSN).
Google surely has the market leader position and brand recognition
(and advertising budgets to promote the idea) to do something
revolutionary and distribute token cards/devices to customers...
Banks like E*Trade already do... but Google could make the approach popular.
