I attended a lecture by Roger Penrose at the ANU a few years back as part of his "Emperor's New Mind" tour. It was fascinating to hear him speak about those conjectures, but I well remember receiving a stern finger-wagging from Link about placing any credence in the conjectures of anyone, regardless of their eminence, when the subject is outside their field of expertise.

I still think it's fascinating conjecture, though.
