Says the experienced security consultant, wise in the ways of the
commercial world. (And knowing that there's always an outside chance
of picking up a consultancy assignment in the process - no harm in
that - the incumbent consultancy is very probably no longer incumbent
...).

We can't afford to limit the 'many eyes' approach / crowdsourcing to
only the small sub-set of the world occupied by people like you Steve!

We very much need everyone with sufficient tech expertise to be able
to participate in the open 'distant early warning scheme', whether
they're dyed-in-the-wool-employees-who-never-want-to-be-contractors,
or people too young to be permitted to work (on the possibly spurious
grounds that it would be enforced child labour).

I wonder if any guidance notes on how to go about such things are
easily found on the Web. It's pretty clear that First State Super
won't have written one yet - and the same goes for the vast majority
of user organisations; and even the major IT suppliers have been in
denial until the last few years.
