Yes, I have tried web browsing on the Amazon Kindle and it does work in 
Australia. But the browsing experience is somewhat limited by the small, 
slow, monochrome screen and tiny keyboard.

I am not convinced a dedicated eBook reader is a good idea, if everyone 
has a smart phone and a tablet or laptop anyway.
