"Cryptocat has a simple, countercultural goal: people should be able to
talk on the Internet without being subjected to commercial or government
surveillance. Its just as easy to use as Facebook chat or Google chat.
Cryptocat lets you instantly set up secure conversations. It's an open
source encrypted, private alternative to other services such as Facebook
chat.
Messages are encrypted inside your own browser using AES-256 and 4096-bit
asymmetric keys. Encrypted data is securely wiped after one hour of
inactivity.
Cryptocat also runs as a Tor hidden service http://xdtfje3c46d2dnjd.onion
and works on your iPhone, Android and BlackBerry.
Cryptocat is a trademark of and is developed by Nadim Kobeissi. It is
released under the GNU Affero General Public License. It uses parts of
the crypto-js library and the Bitcons iconset. Cryptocat is indebted to
Paul Brodeur, David Mirza, Hasan Saleh and Tina Salameh.
Cryptocat is passionately developed as free, open-source software.
Big Data continue to amass gigantic amounts of personal information
without providing any guarantee of privacy, while encryption remains
largely inaccessible.
Cryptocat aims to bridge the gap for those who need easy, encrypted
communication.
