Sorry Stephen, this is not new Technology.
I refer to TSA and the Z Backscatter Van (essentially an xray scanner on
a truck) made by American Science & Engineering.
It uses the same Terahertz frequencies these chaps are claiming is their
invention and has been around since 2002 as a privacy intrusion scanner
and since Apollo 11 as a photograph through solid objects enhancement
filter for radio telescopes.
The TSA and Z Vans see through walls, cars, storm water drain covers,
clothing, boxes inside freezer trucks and is in my opinion an extremely
long term RF emitting lethal device (also being used by the military
with slightly higher output as a deterrent weapon in the field (leaves
the skin of the enemy with a burning feeling as they are irradiated)).
However, this is a very clever way to introduce yet another attack on
our privacy by giving consumers the belief that they will be able to see
through girls clothing with this device...
I'm personally thinking that I should pay the nice TSA folk next time I
pass through and ask for the medical diagnosis... Even my G.P. can't
scan both sides of me and look at every organ of my body with 4096 dpi
resolution so easily and rapidly...
Although G.P.s are restricted by Radiation safety rules and have to have
special lead lined rooms and screens and lead aprons.
The TSA folk are a bit gung-ho about that... After all, they're there to
stop bomb threats on planes, not ensure that they don't give you cancer
or leukaemia..
In the USA, if you want to stay medically Healthy, you save up your
dollars and fly by private charter from a farmers strip...
Then again, after viewing this video, Linkers might agree that TSA is
pretty pointless: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olEoc_1ZkfA
I remember an earlier version of the see-thru clothes scam... In the
back of every comic book about 45 years ago.. X-ray Specs... Only $9.95
+ P&P. Except, those were not quite as real as this version is.
Reminds me of that old saying...
What did you say.... Hey look at what I just invented...
Plus using it for surveillance means it will be excluded from
availability for high-speed communications use (ACMA 5 yr Spectrum
report concurs).
