Umm, they do Irene.
And her name is Kate....
After watching her battle for consumers on Internet issues since 1997, I
consider it a real shame that she didn't get a turn at bat.
The current Minister appears to be hoisting his anti-internet-blocking
petard in collusion with those nice "do no evil chaps".
You know, the ones that block all external anonymous proxies from
accessing their search engine.
The ones that demand your mobile number because they had to lock down
your email account to protect your reputation from being a spammer.
The ones that our parents would have called "Nemzeti
biztonság/Gosudarstvennoy Bezopasnosti", (depending on your origins).
On the other hand, the Minister was the co-architect of the NBN. For
that we should thank him. For building a network that carries every byte
from every person in Australia through a little [figuratively speaking]
switch in Canberra at ultra fast speeds.
(Probably so that they can get better stats on Internet use in Australia.)
It's a good thing we don't have anyone in Australia "doing no evil".
