What a load of self-serving, technology focused rubbish. Jeffrey Bleich
is a Californian political science/lawyer person. I doubt that he is
speaking his own words, they sound like those of the USA techno
industry. If they are not, then why should Australia take ICT advice
from a lawyer?

The issue is not access, it is trust. The question that people ,
companies and government should be asking is:
"Do you trust those who hold our data?"

If I keep my data on my computers I know who can get at them, but just,
if not more importantly, who cannot get at them.

If I don't care who might see my data, I can put them anywhere. If I
care, then I'll keep them on my machines where I can see and control who
looks at them, thank you very much.

To quote someone in another context. "I will decide who can access my
data and the circumstances in which they can access them".

And why should Australia take ICT advice from a Californian lawyer?
