[sending again, since Link seems to have been offline yesterday
(Friday) -- the problem has stopped, but would still like to know
what linkers think about this situation]
Linkers, I need some advice (offlist is probably best).
I've had DOS attacks on my router for the past 24 hours. I've shut
off and re-established my IP address several times to no avail.
They aren't all from the same originating IP address. They look like this:
UDP Packet - Source:87.205.63.20,12142 Destination:118.209.191.176,8500 - [DOS]
Is there something about port 8500 that is particularly attractive at
the moment? And why would they be coming back to the different IP addresses?
I'm on Internode ADSL service. I use a NetgearDG834G modem/router.
Firewall rules on the router are set as:
Emacs!
Thanks for any advice as to what to do and if this is dangerous.

Our truest response to the irrationality of the world is to paint or
sing or write, for only in such response do we find truth.
