If you consult a news service, say, http://www.abc.net.au/news/ and total
up the positive and negative stories you will see that there is a lot of
human effort aimed at providing "reasons to be frightened". Tenuousness,
improbability and geographical separation are not problems for these
stories and, in fact, often seems to add to their allure.
We have all this built-in apprehension about unseen things and very little
to hang it on.
I went out last night without being attacked by a sabre tooth tiger,yay!
