memory is cheap these days. approx $20 for a 4GB DDR3-1333 stick. most
desktop motherboards have 4 DDR-3 sockets, so you can fill it with
4x4GB, or $80 for 16GB RAM.
and 8GB sticks are currently around $75, almost double the price/GB. so
16GB for $150 or 32GB for $300. within a year or two, they'll probably
cost $20 each.

ps: of course, in 5 years time these prices will seem absurdly expensive.
