Our cities are already quite reliant on technology. Technology needs
to be part of civic discourse, negotiation, transparency. In this

I think smart cities would mean that we are smarter about the how of
technology. Questions like Karen's would be addressed as a part of a
civil engagement with which technologies are used, how they are
written, what they can be relied upon to do and how they can be
improved.

It would also be interesting if we could be really aware of the mix of
species across our country. Imagine if we each knew which species,
which resources were in our local community, around our homes, in our
parks, and we could act to maintain good populations of species for
which our local area is vital habitat.
