It´s incorrect paragraphs like these who do more harm than good, and people
in the anti-globalization camp use statements like the above to go crying
for the UN and "multi-lateral political power" to "take control of the
internet".

It´s not like I have something against the UN, on the contrary, I like the
UN when it sends peace corps to stop a bloodshed somewhere. But sending
politicos with little knowledge of technology to shape the future of the
internet is a can of worms.

Again: if you register a domain under a country TLD, the ICANN has little
to do, other than yanking an entire country off the grid. So why insist on
com/net/org/whatevernewtheycomeupwith TLDs as if those were a necessity or
some sort of magic weapon for internet success?.

My position: let´s all forget abount TLDs, let ICANN do whatever they want,
and let´s start using domains under country code TLDs. That way, control of
such domains stays local, under each country´s CC TLD administrator...

"Think globally, act locally"(?). ;)
