People who are silly enough to give intimate details of their lives to
a giant, secretive, corporation to do with whatever it likes may also
be silly enough to pay for the privilege. Not that unreasonable
really. I suspect that this is really aimed at those business FB users
who are using FB as their main web presence. $2 might be seen as cheap
to lift your visibility a bit.
