[LINK] Winsite went down in 2009 and mirrors erased it (!)

That in the age of 1TB+ hard drives that one major repository of
shareware and freeware software went down in 2009 and its mirrors
proceeded to DELETE THEIR ARCHIVES rather then keep their copies, is
criminal, if you ask me.

The only mirror still online at mirror-service.org.uk, has a subset of
what was the full Winsite (ie no /winnt/ subdir).

And the file I was looking for "vm10.exe" (Virtual-Mouse driver 1.0)
seems to be gone forever...

The last trace on the web was at the Hungarian mirror for Winsite at
IIF.hu. But that, too, is gone

Needless to say, archive.org is useless for situations like this....

How much useful software is lost forever every month due to ftp sites
