I haven't worn a watch since I got a mobile phone, however, the Pebble
watch does interest me.  It's has an ePaper screen and is designed to be as
a handy (wristy?) bluetooth, app-able extension of your mobile.  It is a
$100K Kickstarter project that got over-subsubscribed to $10M in record
time.  Doesn't do pulse but just does about anything else someone cares to
develop.  3 axis accelerometer adds gesture detection to phone/watch.

This seems to me to take a watch out of the 19th century and into the
21st.  Red LED displays not withstanding. :)
