indeed, but did you notice that Microsoft has made it the default to hide
files´ "known extensions" beginning with windows 95/98 or thereabouts? One
of my main griped on every windows installation (I prefer Linux and my main
system runs Fedora 17, yet I have to keep one or two windows systems around
for benchmarks and the like) has been to re-enable the showing of filename
extensions on the windows shell.

Windows. However, you can make file name extensions visible. "

bastards. And don´t get me started on Google´s dumbification of user
interfaces...
