Firstly, I will declare my interest, Archives and Libraries are a vital
source of material for my short walk books and my Anecdotal
histories of Sydney Surburbs on the Web.

See my reference list, for my latest book, here:

and the acknowledgments in the book preview available here:

In addition, there is the Noel Butlin Archives Centre at the ANU,
which holds the records of Allen Taylor and Co Timber Merchants,
a company run from Annandale in the 1890s and which still exists as a
subsidiary company
> The Noel Butlin Archives Centre is a nationally significant collection of primary source material relating to business and labour. The NBAC holds archives of industrial organisations, businesses, professional associations, industry bodies and the labour movement. It makes them available for research and use by the University and the wider community.

More about the Universal Declaration on Archives
> Adopted in principle last year, at the ICA Annual General Meeting in Malta, the Universal Declaration on Archives has now officially become one of the core pillars in ICA's advocacy policy.
>
> The ICA delegates decided unanimously at their Annual General Meeting in Oslo, on 17 September 2010, to approve the text of the Universal Declaration on Archives. Developed by ICA/SPA (Section of Professional Associations) on the model of the "Déclaration québécoise des Archives", the Universal declaration on Archives (UDA) sets out concisely the unique characteristics of archives and the management requirements to provide ongoing access for as long as the records are needed. It has been conceived as a basis for advocacy and promotion to support archives and the profession, and addresses a wide public.
>
> The Declaration was officialy endorsed by the UNESCO in plenary session on 10 November 2011.
