FUD. As if Telstra, Optus or anyone else would tell you that it would be possible to buy an unlocked phone, or that sims will certainly be available.

Of course they won't tell you anything yet - the phones are not even available.

However, Telstra offer unlocked phones, and have been doing so for some time now, free of charge.

As for the dock issue - I'm thrilled to not to have to turn on my bedside light just to ensure that I've got my connector the right way around (which, incidentally, is a problem with USB, micro-USB, and the 30-pin connector). For me, this is a huge leap in performance. I rarely use cables to transfer data to or from my phone, so couldn't care less if it is fast or slow. To me, small is good. Less materials is good.
