attempt #4 at getting this to Link....

Only just read this....

What is "Microsoft's Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit 3.0"?

It sounds like a bunch of weasel words for "patch fix".

While people are banging on about Java etc, which actually does have a use in "Enterprise Applications", MS continues to produce products
that apparently have the flaws built in by design.

Personally, I have to use Java. Most of the apps I support have it in
some way. Because Java on OSX Lion (at work) doesn't fit 100% with these apps, I actually reflect them off an X-server on a UNIX box and then run the apps as a JavaWebstart module. Then the app just runs as a standalone, without the browser. Of course if I see Java content on the web, I tend to check it out first before running.

Also, on the Mac, you have the Java Preferences Utility in

Applications|Utilities

Which allows you to select the JRE you want to use and also configure
and view the certificates and Security settings on your Mac. I used
this to run the Snow Leopard Java runtime on Lion, because one of my apps refused to run with JDK-1.60 and wanted the older release. But adding
the old Java platform is only simple if you know the convoluted steps involved, but once installed the Utility handles them the same.

Yesterday I had to resolve the Java version issue for someone else,
but they told me that you can only run one JDK/JRE at a time on MSW
so I am surprised there is not some sort of utility to look after the Java runtimes there as well....
