Yes, PANDORA is a good example of librarians taking on long term 
information storage.

Yes. So I suggest librarians help with on-line publishing facilities, so 
that material will be easy to archive later. A good example would be 
university libraries, which could provide journal, conference and eBook 
publishing facilities for their academic clients. University libraries 
would then not have to  buy or be copies of papers, as these would 
already be in the library system.
