i think it would be better to take some of the less-violent offenders
from the privatised prisons and chain them to the box. they can crank
the power 24 hours/day and save on both battery capital costs and
ongoing electricity charges.
it could be great for the prisoners too - maybe something like every
kw/h produced = 1 minute off their sentence (but slacking off would
increase their sentence).
