The National University of Samoa had an elegant solution to cabling. 
They used a wheelie bin and a palm tree to hold the cable dispenser, for 
installing their underground data cabling.

Less successfully, someone had strung ordinary indoor CAT 5 cable from 
the power poles in the main street of Apia (the capital of Samoa) and 
this was deteriorating in the tropical sun.
