Isn't cable in the US also the main provider of higher speed Internet
access?

The scale and depth of their existing distribution network and more
importantly the sheer volume of content [noise?] that is available makes
any useful comparison with Oz fairly moot.

More interesting might be the question of how small local cable content
producers are exposing/repurposing their content via IP rather than or
along with cable cable syndication deals.

The better collarary for Australia might be post Soviet economic
development. When you build an oligarchy then every offer is an offer you
can't refuse ;)
